Simon Morris / Entrepreneur & Chief Creative Officer, Amazon
Simon Morris is one of the most successful creative entrepreneurs in the UK. He was inducted into the UK Marketing Hall of Fame after a career that launched Sega in the territory and made Sonic the Hedgehog a household name-and accounted for the largest software sales record with Sonic 2, as well as generating over a £1 billion in revenue with his campaigns.
In 1994 he left Sega to become Consumer Marketing Director at Sky UK where he stayed for two years, later moving to Ginger Television Productions as Managing Director (from 1996 to 1997). You might also remember him as the character “the bloke who knows what’s going on” from TFI Friday
He was a Co founder in 1996 of the first wave dot com super brand 365 Corp , pioneers in digital publishing with brands such as football 365 ,rugby 365 and music 365, before going on to found LOVEFiLM.com an EU subscription streaming and DVD service that eventually sold to Amazon and formed the platform for Prime Video today.
For the past decade, Simon has been the worldwide creative lead for Amazon. He was a Senior Global Leader and was the first and only person to date to be made Chief Creative Officer of the company. Under Simon’s creative and innovative leadership, the Amazon brand has reached new heights, churning out award winning ads and content. Two creative highlights include the 2020 Christmas ad ‘Ballerina’and the Alexa Super Bowl campaign which garnered an Emmy nominations. Simon’s personal highlight was orchestrating Amazon’s advertising launch of The Climate Pledge in 2019 to build a cross-sector community of companies, organisations etc working together to address climate change issues. ...
As an entrepreneur Simon was a co-founder of Football 365, ( also Rugby 365, Music 365 etc)a company that went from start up to IPO in just four years. He has been a founding investor or non-exec director for are Graze and Tails.
Along the way he has also been a special adviser to LEGO when the toy giant branched out into film and TV, as well helping to create the specialist search business brand Autonomy which was Europe’s first unicorn internet brand.
Simon is regularly recognised in the creative industry “top 100” lists and was inducted into the first ever Marketing Hall of Fame in recognition of a unique career. A career in which he has received three Emmy nominations, hundreds of creative awards and even a letter of commendation from the Vatican for his Christmas 2016 Amazon commercial. With his unique skillset he has created billions of dollars of shareholder value and is always focused on business results in creativity.
