Ms. Veronica Varekova / Goodwill Ambassador, African Wildlife Foundation
Veronica Verakova was born in the Czech Republic where she undertook a Bachelor Degree in
Psychology at Olomouc University. Veronica intended to further her studies in New York by enrolling at
Parsons School of Fine Art. During her stay in New York Veronica began a successful career as a Model,
to date she has been captured by some of the most prestigious photographers in the world, was
featured twice on the cover of Sports Illustrated and has participated in campaigns including Chanel,
Victoria Secret and Hublot Genève.
Alongside being a model, Varekova is a global development and conservation activist with extensive
experience and ongoing project work focused in several African nations. Miss Varekova’s development
work is focused specifically on renewable energy, infrastructure and agriculture. She is currently working
on developing commercial farms in Tanzania and Ethiopia. In her development work, Veronica works
closely with the United Nations, World Bank and other world leading institutions and has cultivated
strong working relationships with the governments of Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, DRC, South
Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, Senegal, and South Sudan.
Miss Varekova has been a member of the Board of Directors of the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF)
since 2009, also serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for the AWF. Her work with the AWF includes leading
efforts to raise funds and publicity in support of initiatives focused on conserving large landscapes,
protecting endangered species, and empowering local communities. As well, she has been participant of
the Clinton Global Initiatives and the World Economic Forum since 2009, and in 2013 became a member
of the CGI.
Miss Varekova is currently engaged in graduate study in Political Science and International Relations at
CERVO University.
