Dr. Steven B. Nasatir / Executive Vice Chairman of the Jewish United Fund
Dr. Steven B. Nasatir is a Jewish community leader of national and international renown, who has served as President of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago for 28 years. A former academician, Dr. Nasatir is the fourth person in the 106-year history of Chicago's Jewish Federation to serve as its chief executive officer, and has traveled the world in his commitment to the Jewish people. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois; holds an M.A. degree from Roosevelt University and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He joined the staff of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago in 1971. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Policy Planning Institute in Jerusalem, the Board of the Michael Reese Health Trust, the Covenant Foundation, a number of Family Foundation Boards of Directors, and the for-profit Board of North Star Trust Company. He is an Associate Member of the Board of Governors and delegate to the Assembly of the Jewish Agency for Israel, and a very active participant in and consultant to the United Jewish Communities. Identified annually by the Forward newspaper as one of the top 50 international Jewish leaders. He has succeeded in raising enormous funds-more than $5 billion--responding to changing community needs and retaining public trust. Steve has always been the first speak up for what is right, the first to do what needs to be done, and the first to commit community resources to come to the rescue of Jews abroad. Under his guidance, JUF has won a worldwide reputation for efficiency, effectiveness and fiscal responsibility. Under his leadership, Chicago has set the agenda for the Jewish world.
